‘organsongs’ is a project in the early stages of creative development following an Arts Council DYCP grant.
Since mid-2023, I have been developing my digital skills, spending more time in the studio, investing in equipment and receiving mentorship from other creatives to create new works about my lived experiences of chronic illness and disability.
My aim for ‘organsongs’ is to create an immersive environment using physical and digital bodily organ-like sculptures that react to sound and touch, inviting audience members to create and experience interactive shared visuals and soundscapes, regardless of musical skill or ability.
This project emerged from my need as a sensory-seeking Autistic person to explore more non-verbal ways to communicate creatively with those around me, whilst continuing to explore my relationship with my own internal organs as a chronically ill person.
